Why I Became a Therapist:

Growing up I was always fascinated by people and what made us all so different and unique. I was interested in why I was the person I was which sometimes felt very different from my family and even my peers. When I reached high school, I took a psychology course that introduced me to this field. I learned that there was something I could study that answered all these curiosities I’d had.

During undergrad, I had the opportunity to grow my knowledge in the field and I was exposed to the different possibilities a Psychology major offers. When Professors discussed Therapy I really resonated with the experience of a listener and found that in many ways I had been in that role in many of my relationships. I figured I might as well get paid for it. All jokes aside, during my grad school program, I began to feel a sense of being called to this kind of work. I see therapy as sacred ground that we get to tread on with our patients; it’s an honor and a gift to empower others and walk alongside them during the joys and the lows of life.
