Soul Sanctuary
Welcome to Sanctuary
Welcome to the Soul Sanctuary of Prepare to Change Child and Family Counseling (P2CCFCounseling). This branch of P2C counseling is dedicated to providing a place of rest and restoration for churches and clients seeking healing through the integration of their Christian faith. We allow individuals and communities to explore their innermost places of pain and brokenness as it interacts with their faith and understanding of God. Our goal is to facilitate healing and growth in order to emotionally, mentally and spiritually free individuals in ways that restrict them in their relationship with God, others, and pursuing their life purpose.
At the Soul Sanctuary, we provide a place where it is ok to not have it all figured out. We believe God can handle our confusion, anger, sin and pain because we have a biblical understanding that His grace is sufficient and that our broken parts do not disqualify us from being in relationship with Him, others, or being used in our communities. Our heart is to provide a place for you to discover hope and grow.
Biblically Integrated Therapy
Our therapists have a personal relationship with Jesus, view scripture as God’s living word (2 Timothy 3:16-17), and believe God has created each person with a purpose (Ephesians 2:10).
Biblically integrated therapy allows you to work through all clinical or relational issues by processing your needs through a variety of psychological approaches including your spiritual relationship. This type of therapy facilitates attention to spiritual awareness and the impact on psychological functioning.
We understand each person has their own relationship with God and that relationship will look different from one person to another. The intent of biblically integrated therapy is not to over spiritualize circumstances or to use scripture forcefully. We provide a space for you to be exactly where you are at without judgement or an agenda.
You decide how much of your faith you want integrated into your therapeutic work to achieve your mental health goals. We want you to know our foundation as a team as you safely work through whatever YOU chose to bring into your therapy. We understand that sometimes we want to work with someone who will hold our faith and relationship with God as we navigate through life’s hurdles.
SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
Interested in meeting with someone to grow in your capacity to relate to God? We offer individual sessions with trained Spiritual Directors that will help grow your capacity to discern and recognize the movement of the Holy Spirit in your life. These types of sessions will help equip you to recognize God’s voice, how to respond to Him, and overall enrich your relationship with Him. We believe healthy spiritually should enhance your awareness of God, improve connectedness and openness to God, and promote surrender to God’s will and love.
Spiritual Direction differs from biblically integrated therapy. Spiritual Direction will always focus on your relationship with God and the spiritual elements connected to your faith. Biblically integrated therapy utilizes psychological methods to explore life experiences, thoughts, feelings, relationships and the interaction of these psychological functions with a client’s spiritual well-being.
EQUIPPING MINISTRY LEADERSHIP
The role of a Sanctuary therapist is to teach, care, guide, and tend to clients in a way that propels and equips them in order for the body of Christ to be built up (Eph 4:12). The ministry leadership in the Church also needs the same type of care. Here is a snapshot of the ways we can serve you.
Therapy Sessions
Individuals and families involved in ministry leadership are not exempt from life hardships, mental health issues, loneliness and stress. Self-care is often something that falls to the wayside when you are constantly pouring into others. We invite you to join us in therapy to tend to the parts of yourself or family that need
Congregational Care
The awareness of mental health issues are on the rise in the Church today. We will provide classes or groups on your campus that are customized to meet the needs of your community. Marriage, emotionally healthy spirituality, the anxious Christian, parenting and more!
Church Staff & Leadership Care
Staff Trainings: Church members will often go to their church before they will schedule their own therapy sessions. With the increased awareness of mental health issues, we often hear Pastors express feeling ill-equipped in the pressing needs of their members. Increased conversations of suicidality, depression, anxiety, and trauma – we want to equip your team to care for your community. Call and let’s discuss the ways we can train your staff.
Staff Wellness Retreat: Schedule our team to join yours for the day as we provide an environment to enrich your own self-care, manage stress and emotions, refresh purpose and motivation, increase team cohesion while integrating biblical principles.
Congregational Triage Consultation: Occasionally church communities experience trauma on a corporate level. Experiences of unexpected death, marital infidelity, sexual abuse or a leadership member termination can shake a community. We offer consultation services to provide a care plan for your church to minimize spiritual trauma and promote restoration as a community.
Church Partnership: Soul Sanctuary desires to equip the local church and be an extension of care for your congregation. If your church is interested in partnering with us in a care plan for your community, or receiving more information, please contact April Twenhafel. We offer a variety of services including groups, classes, and therapy. We would love to customize a strategic therapeutic care plan to meet the needs of your church members.
